Date: August 15th - December 3rd

For ages 10-13

Please note that within this age range there will be a wide range of abilities. Some students may be working with the placement of simple shapes, whereas others may know about proportion and shading. I strive to create a supportive classroom environment where all abilities are welcome. So, no experience previously is needed to begin this class semester.

Full Semester 16 weeks ($350)* Minimum of 10 students *

The entire course of 16 weeks is broken down into 12 Units. All assignments can be emailed and graded. The artist will keep each artwork to build a portfolio by the end of the semester that will go to their final project and grade.

Payment Option ($140 per 4 Units)

This may be for students who want to pick and choose which month to join this semester.

Art Fundamentals 1a (12 units)

This semester, students will learn how to sketch and draw people by learning new tips and tricks to draw with confidence in their artwork. Each week I will share a slide presentation that will contain art instructions and a photo reference for drawing. We will go through step-by-step on covering the correct human proportions of the full body. If you are interested in drawing people and want to learn different and new techniques to improve your art, then this is for you!

Some of the art terminology we will learn to include: gesture, proportion, line, geometric shapes, shading, and value (lights and darks). We will learn how to hold the pencil and discuss how to use the materials to achieve the effects we want in our drawings. We will also learn to apply a variety of pencil techniques to our sketches, including shading, sketching, hatching, and cross-hatching. Other mediums will be introduced like watercolor, pen/ink, colored pencils, and markers.
